Two weeks have passed and everything and everybody is settling down. These are the times you start to appreciate what you have at home. One of the things I really miss doing, which I am able to do at home is: Driving! It’s the same road every time: From home to school and back, from home to the Lidl and back, from home to city centre… (and back) etc. And it’s all done by: foot. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind walking, on the contrary! But The most beautiful places are outside of the city and in order to get there you’d have to go by bus. I can think of a thousand (ok not literally but still…) other ways to travel which I prefer over bus any time! I miss my car! And I miss my motorcycle. Is that wrong? Probably… But I started realising this after this weekend where we went up to Adare (by bus) which is nice… But if you really want to see the big castles and the true nature of Ireland you’d have to drive a little further than just a city centre or town. Rent a car! You would say… Yeah, sure but I am still a student… I will rent a car but I’d rather rent one when somebody’s coming over so I won’t have to go to places by myself. I’d like to show people around. Anyone interested???

Our Viking movie!!!

Saturday was the day of the shoot for our Viking movie! It was so much fun! We had a blast! It started early in the morning with Andrea and Ingeborg coming to my apartment so we could do our hair the way Cathy Swift wanted us. (Well, at least we tried…) Then, at 8:30 (which eventually turned out to be 8:45 and where I started realising that a lot of Australians are Irish) Cathy Swift and a friend picked us up by car. (A Rover for those of you who are interested). The car was absolutely packed! With six women and a lot of junk in it but we had a lot of fun. Once we were on the road Cathy told us that this was probably the right time to tell us she failed her driving test five times.. Boy, did we notice. “For Sale: Car owned by an old lady, warning: gearbox and clutch are ruined!, a few small and insignificant dents and scratches but other than that a nice car…” Well at least we made it. After having a coffee in some small place, (sorry can’t remember) we arrived at Craggaunowen. This is a theme park in which you can ‘relive’ the past, but closed for public at the time. There we met up with our camera crew and Dave and Billy. It was freezing!!! After we changed into our ‘traditional’ clothing, everything had to be done quite quickly so that our toes wouldn’t freeze off. We had sooo much fun shooting the movie. I am not going to explain everything because I would bore you guys to death but there are already a lot of bloopers. (One where Dave falls to the ground sitting on an ancient bench - yes he broke the ‘damn’ thing - in the middle of a scene where he is not supposed to make everybody laugh. “Ok CUT, let’s try again, Dave would you be so kind as to refrain from catching everybody’s attention?” :P So yes, freezing our butts off but having a wonderful time!

I might just give you a link to youtube (or two for that matter) because I filmed at the set as well. The other link is just a day in Limerick – you can see my Uni - Be sure to check them out!!!

    Marianne:

    hey kelly,
